Hello Everyone!

As I mentioned on the call, here are those interesting 2021 UDRP statistics
compiled by UDRP attorney Howar Neu.

At WIPO...

*In spite of the pandemic, or maybe because of it, there were 2,021 (UDRP)
complaints heard by WIPO panelists in the past 6 months, and over 4,000 for
the year 2021. Of those, 88% were default cases without response from the
domain registrants. Interestingly enough, however, 17 of those default
cases were denials and 2 of them decided by Tony Willoughby were found to
be Reverse Domain Name Hijacked (RDNH). Of the 234 contested cases, 100 of
them were denied (43%) with 13 finding RDNH.*

At the FORUM...

*In fact, for the last 6 months, the FORUM deliberated over 1,120 cases, of
which 1,022 (91%) were default cases with no response from the registrants.
Of the 98 contested cases where Responses had been filed, 44 were denied
and 8 were guilty of Reverse Domain Name Hijacking (RDNH). That means that
if the Respondent contested the claim, he had a 45% chance of keeping the
domain. Interestingly enough, of the default cases, 15 were denied (1.5%).*

Takeways...
-Most UDRPs are uncontested and the complainant wins 9/10 times in such
situations, aka bad actors don't fight back. So again, very rare situation
where a case may be contested; and
-Good faith, legitimate registrants do exist :)
