[Gnso-newgtld-wg-wt5] [Ext] AW: Proposed Agenda - Work Track 5 - 28 November 2018 at 20:00 UTC

Dear Kavouss,

The sentence currently reads: “Some of the problems and negative experiences that some Work Track members identified from the 2012 round include the following. Some believe that. . .”

Is this phrasing more clear: “Some Work Track members identified problems and negative experiences from the 2012 round. Some believe that. . .”?

Note that there is also a sub-section in the text that describes positive experiences.

Kind regards,
Emily

Dear All
I agree with the first ( para. 12) but I have difficulty with paragraph 42not due to the addition on some proposed by Jorge but on the very awkward structure of the sentence
It needs to be redrafted including suggestion made by Jorge
In fact U gave difficulties to grasp “ negative experience”as experience usually is not associated with adjective such as positive or negative due to the fact that the use of such adjective is purely subjective .

Kavouss

Hi all

I have no strong objections to this. Actually, it is important to highlight it when it is only «some», so it does not seem like it is a view the whole group shares.

Dear all,

It appears that we neglected to walk through these new comments from Jorge on the call yesterday. If there are any strong objections to the following, please respond on list by 21:00 UTC tomorrow, 30 November:

  * On page 12, remove sentence “Treatment of these strings was inconsistent.”
  * On page 42, add the word “some” to the sentence referenced below.

Kind regards,
Emily

Dear Emily

Please include the following comments in the consideration:

  * Page 12: “Treatment of these strings was inconsistent.” --> this is just the opinion expressed (as far as I know) by one member. “inconsistent” is a value call. We could say that there were different treatments – whether that differentiation was inconsistent or not has not been agreed.

  * Page 42: the following heading/intro seems to reflect an agreed view, when it is only the view of “some”, hence it should read “Some of the issues problems and negative experiences that some Work Track members identified from the 2012 round include the following.”

Best regards

Jorge
