I agree with Brian – Susan is an excellent candidate for the WG leadership team and I would like to endorse her, as well.

Dear Fellow RDS WG Members:

I also wish to add my voice endorsing Susan to serve on the WG leadership team. As a member of the IPC and former GNSO Councilor, I have had the privilege of working with Susan extensively over the past several years. Not only will Susan bring her experience as a member of the GNSO Council and the Expert Working Group to bear on the work of this PDP, but, as Jennifer pointed out, her many years of industry and broader ICANN experience. Given the massive undertaking this PDP entails, we will need veteran leadership to ensure efficient and effective efforts over an extended period of time.

I look forward to working with Susan, other members of WG leadership (whoever they may be), and the other participants in this WG on this critical subject matter.

Best regards,

Brian

Susan and fellow RDS WG members,

I, as a RrSG Member and GNSO councilor , endorse Susan’s submission to be considered as a member of the Next-Generation RDS WG leadership team. Over the past ten years, I have had the privilege of working with Susan on various ICANN related projects and working groups . She offers vast domain name industry experience and I fully trust in her abilities to serve the entire community and working group members well.

Thank you,
Jennifer

Hello All,

I am very interested in being part of the leadership team of this PDP.

1) Existing Stakeholder Group affiliations (if any) Business Constituency – Commercial Stakeholder Group

2) Relevant past PDP(s) or WG(s) in which you participated

Whois Working group – 2006

Whois Review Team
Thick Whois WG
EWG
GNSO Council
Chaired GNSO/Board to create framework for the Next Generation RDS PDP
PPSAI

3) Leadership experience – Although I have not chaired a PDP WG I have spent considerable time on ICANN working groups and contributing to the discussion of WHOIS within ICANN. As a GNSO councilor representing the BC I participate in the leadership of our constituency. In my day to day job I lead on multiple initiatives with internal and external resources.

4) Perspective on the WHOIS issues and RDS - The WHOIS issue is complex and thorny. Changing a protocol that will be implemented globally and adhere to applicable law internationally requires much thought and input from our multi-stakeholder community. All the discussions have led us on this path and I look forward to answering the questions of Phase 1 of this PDP. The WHOIS record has developed into an essential tool for domain name management and protection of internet users in my position at Facebook but requires the balance of protecting privacy and access. The WHOIS issue is what brought me to ICANN in 2006 and it continues to be a core issue.

5) Ability to devote sufficient time - I can commit to the time needed to contribute to the leadership of this PDP.

6) Preference for chair/co-chair or vice-chair position, if any – vice-chair or co-chair position.

If selected as a member of the leadership team I will then remove myself as GNSO council liaison to this PDP to insure there are no conflicts of responsibilities.

Subject: [gnso-rds-pdp-wg] Call for volunteers - Next-Generation RDS WG Leadership

Dear All,

As discussed during today’s meeting, this constitutes the call for volunteers for individuals interested to take on a leadership role in the Next-Generation RDS PDP Working Group. Before volunteering, you are strongly encouraged to review the attached document, which outlines the anticipated tasks as well as the desirable skills of a WG Chair.

From the WG’s comments it is clear that the WG is ideally looking for individuals that have both knowledge of the subject matter as well as expertise in chairing a (PDP) Working Group. The WG discussed that the leadership team should not be too big nor too small (max. 4?) and ideally include individuals that have diverse perspectives on this issue as this is expected to facilitate the management of the Working Group. Once confirmed, the leadership team is expected to work out amongst themselves whether it takes the form of chair-vice-chairs or co-chairs.

Those interested in volunteering for a leadership role are encouraged to share their name with the mailing list and include a short expression of interest in which you outline your relevant knowledge and expertise, as well whether you have any specific preference for a chair or vice-chair role. Your expression of interest is expected to include at a minimum:

Existing Stakeholder Group affiliations (if any) Business Constituency – Commercial

Relevant past PDP(s) or WG(s) in which you participated

Leadership experience

Perspective on the WHOIS issues and RDS

Ability to devote sufficient time

Preference for chair/co-chair or vice-chair position, if any.

As a reminder, the leadership team, regardless of their interests and affiliations, is expected to take a neutral stance in moderating discussion and leading the WG to consensus.

The Working Group is expected to consider the list of volunteers as well as leadership composition further during its meeting on 9 February.

Best regards,

Marika
