I definitely agree that we need to show respect to one another but we also need to try to be less easily offended.  Email communications combined with language and culture differences often result in what appears to be disrespect when it may not be intended at all.

If I focus on Volker's message immediately below, I think it would have sufficed to simply say something like this: "It seems to me we may be getting off topic."
