The problem with that position, as I already pointed out, is that
strictly speaking _nothing_ in the RDS is required for the technical
operation of the DNS.  The DNS works without the RDS.  We already
decided that the RDS is separate from the SRS, and the SRS is how you
get data into the DNS.

The RDS is used to aid troubleshooting and alternative lines of
communication in a distributed-authority, distributed-operation system
like the DNS (and, for that matter, the Internet).  But this means
that such a purpose necessarily includes some contact information in
order to achieve that purpose properly.

So, either the EFF's position boils down to, "Eliminate the RDS," or
else it will require exposing more information than you seem to want
to expose.  I can't tell which of these positions you prefer.  I do
think, however, that an RDS that does not facilitate some mode of
contacting the operator of the service in question is not worth very
much, and that those who bear the expense of operating the RDS in such
a case will have a strong argument that the service should simply go
away in that case.
