Subject: [Ext] SSC Workstream for Your Attention and Action

Dear SSC members,

We are writing to update you on the schedule regarding the CSC Liaison selection process and inform you about a new task assigned the SSC for action.

First, regarding the CSC Liaison EOI – as discussed on the mailing list, the EOI deadline has been extended to 7 December. One application has been received so far (you can review it on the private wiki here<https://community.icann.org/display/GSSCMO/GNSO+Liaison+to+the+CSC+-+Application+Materials>), and at least one more is expected to be received by the deadline. Please fill out the doodle poll [doodle.com]<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/doodle.com/poll/fvwfzgmkn7mw7gif?utm_source=poll&utm_medium=link*20*5bdoodle.com*5d__;JSUl!!PtGJab4!qRgCGZhJ8YmtZ-mUmauN2ktGtgzD4W8UXb1YATTOZ25r_F4h0yUoM3hpWb82cmU5ugRyY3GIHw$> to help us schedule a meeting the week on 14 December to discuss the EOIs received. As a reminder, everyone will individually fill out a survey before the call to help organize their thoughts on the candidates.

Second, regarding the new task -- the GNSO Council has requested the SSC to evaluate EOIs and recommend an individual to serve as the GNSO nominated Mentor to the ICANN Fellowship Program (you can find background about the Fellowship Program and mentors for the program here: https://www.icann.org/news/announcement-2020-11-16-en [icann.org]<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https:/www.icann.org/news/announcement-2020-11-16-en__;!!PtGJab4!qRgCGZhJ8YmtZ-mUmauN2ktGtgzD4W8UXb1YATTOZ25r_F4h0yUoM3hpWb82cmU5ugTgBXo5Qg$>). The attached EOI will be launched tomorrow with an application submission deadline of 17 December. The deadline for the GNSO Council to nominate a Mentor is 31 January, 2021.

We are seeking to complete both selection processes in time for Council to consider the SSC’s recommendations during its 21 January Council meeting. Below is a proposed work plan to complete these selections:

  * 3 Dec: Launch Fellowship Mentor EOI
  * 7 Dec: New deadline for CSC Liaison EOI
  * 8 Dec: Launch poll for SSC members complete on CSC Liaison candidates
  * Week of 14 Dec: SSC meeting to discuss CSC Liaison candidates (members should complete poll at least 24 hours before the meeting)
  * 17 Dec: Deadline for Fellowship Mentor EOI
  * 18 Dec: Launch poll for SSC members complete on Fellowship Mentor candidates
  * Early week of 21 Dec: Additional SSC meeting to discuss CSC Liaison candidates, if necessary
  * Week of 4 Jan: SSC meeting to discuss Fellowship Mentor candidates (members should complete poll at least 24 hours before the meeting)
  * 11 Jan: Motion Deadline for January GNSO meeting – placeholder motion possible
  * Week of 11 Jan: Additional SSC meeting to discuss Fellowship Mentor candidates, if necessary
  * 19 Jan: Last day to submit name(s) of recommended candidate(s)
  * 21 Jan: GNSO Council meeting
If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Kind regards,
Carlton and Sophie
