[Gnso-ssc] Next Steps: upcoming SSC assignments

Dear all,

In an earlier message, you received information about the SSC assignment to select a Fellowship Program Mentor. We now have some additional details to share about the second upcoming SSC assignment, for the GNSO nominated Fellowship Selection Committee member.

The following is a suggested timeline for the assignment:

  *   9 December 2022: Launch EOI
  *   6 January 2023: Deadline for EOI
  *   9 January 2023: Open poll for SSC members complete on candidates
  *   One day prior to SSC meeting in the second half of January 2023: Close poll for SSC members to complete on candidates
  *   Second half of January 2023: SSC meeting to discuss Fellowship Mentor candidates
  *   6 February 2023: Motion Deadline for February GNSO meeting – placeholder motion possible
  *   15 February 2023: Last day to submit name of recommended candidate
  *   16 February 2023: GNSO Council meeting – Council confirms candidate recommended by SSC
  *   16 February 2023: GNSO to submit name to the Fellowship Program

In our upcoming SSC meeting on 20 December, we’ll go over details for both the Fellowship Mentor and Selection Committee selection processes.

GNSO Nominated Mentor for the ICANN Fellowship Program

This is a recurring assignment for the SSC with a standard EOI that has been used over the years. The following is a suggested timeline for the assignment:


  *   1 December 2022: Launch Fellowship Mentor EOI
  *   21 December 2022: Deadline for Fellowship Mentor EOI
  *   22 December 2022: Open poll for SSC members complete on Fellowship Mentor candidates
  *   One day prior to SSC meeting in the first week of January 2023: Close poll for SSC members complete on Fellowship Mentor candidates
  *   First week of January 2023: SSC meeting to discuss Fellowship Mentor candidates
  *   9 January 2023: Motion Deadline for February GNSO meeting – placeholder motion possible
  *   18 January 2023: Last day to submit name of recommended candidate
  *   19 January 2023: GNSO Council meeting – Council confirms candidate recommended by SSC
  *   31 January 2023: Deadline for the GNSO to submit name to the Fellowship Program

GNSO Nominated Member of the Fellowship Selection Committee

This is the first time that an EOI is being opened for this position and the first time the SSC has been assigned to select a Committee member. The GNSO Council is now finalizing the EOI materials and will launch an EOI in the coming 1-2 weeks. The SSC will likely complete its selection process in the second half of January once the EOI process is closed. Additional details will follow when available.
