Dear all, I hope you are in good health theses times. I wanted to give an
update and a heads up. Ergys, Fernanda David and I just had a call on how to
proceed with the preparation of the Chairing Skills Programme (CSP). At this
point in time we should be prepared for both options – a physical meeting in
Hamburg or a virtual meeting again.
If it will be a face to face meeting in Hamburg, we will invite Chairs to a
one day training before the meeting. If it will be again a virtual meeting
we are looking into a webinar thereafter.

In any case I would like to reach out to you and in particular to those that
already showed interest to work with David on the curriculum.
These are (as per email below) : Ajay Data, Suada Hadzovic, Satish Babu,
Humberto Carrasco
Please let us know if you are still available to work on the CSP and
everyone else let us know if you would like to joint this group.

Stay healthy!
Sandra

Betreff: [ICANN Academy WG] Meeting in Montreal - ACTION / assignment of
community facilitators for the LP
Priorität: Hoch

Dear all, with this email I would like to summarise the meeting of the
working group im Montreal. Thanks to all of you who participated!
Kindly read until the end and consider the important red parts.

On the Leadership Programme (LP)
- LP went from 3 day to 2 day meeting
- Agenda has been adapted
- Reviewed agenda of the LP
- Feedback from Kobe LP:
o a lot of info on SOACs is already on the web/wiki. Suggestion – weight
material more toward training skills rather than material readily available.

o hearing from the members of the SOAC about PDP and their current issues
or path forward lie – that was useful to hear other point of view. So,
having some intro to ACSOs still valuable.
o Friday afternoon event conflicts with the SOAC Chairs meeting. Re CSP –
didn’t find it all that useful given his extensive materials. He was looking
more for info on SOACs and what they are dealing with.
o chair asked for a team of 2 or 3 community facilitators to help with
agenda (lead groups and overall organizer; need to arrive on Wed).
o volunteers: see list below – will confirm based on community diversity
needs.
o more people to be coaches and possibly invite also participants from
USAG. --> causes issue of total number for LP
- Way forward:
o time sensitive: Call to al AC/SO/SGs to nominate their participants and
ask them to register
o assign Community facilitators (see below of this email)
o revise the programme

On the Chairing Skills Programme (CSP) - Lessons learned and way forward
- David Kolb provided overview of CSP
- Chair provided a bit of history of evolution but would like to
develop for CSP – telephone, meeting management
- Feedback from the last edition:
o CSP was useful but change in curriculum is needed
o there is leverage and opportunities here
o still keep the 1:1 block course program but also assisting and guiding
is useful
o possibly to have the coach and coachee on a longer version.
o assess level of coachee
o CSP is very useful – gives back to the community
o effectiveness of the CSP depends on the time availability of the coach
o need to have higher level of coaches
==> Action Item for Heidi / Ergys (+teams): When ICANN has meetings in
seismically active areas to provide information to the community on how to
react in the case of an earthquake.
- Way forward:
o volunteers for work with David Kolb on implementing suggestions: Ajay
Data, Suada Hadzovic, Satish Babu, Humberto Carrasco,
 anyone else ?
o next CSP f2f – one day before the Hamburg meeting
o possibility to discuss the plans for discussion at the next meeting
o call for CSP participants to be open TBD (after Cancun)

On the Intercultural Awareness Programme (IAP) - Reactivation, if yes how?
- intercultural training is seen as important across the SOACs
- program was cut after budget cuts
- community has all the skills – could organize it for a ½ day and
even a self-pay for dinner
- Include webinars in advance
- one idea is to have it during the policy meeting (next in Kuala
Klumpur)
- would need to update the agenda
==> Action Item for Heidi / Ergys (+teams): to look into allowing in kind
sponsorship for the Intercultural Program.
- once feedback is given re sponsorship – Academy mailing list will
be used for discussion
- interested in volunteering: Ines Hfaiedh, Juan Manuel Rojas,

anyone else ?

AOB – none

Assignment of community facilitators for the upcoming LP in Cancun

Community facilitators will have to arrive on Wednesday before the ICANN
Meeting (3 March) and need to be available for Thursday / Friday all day.
Travel support is a precondition but additional hotel nights will be paid.

During the meeting quite a list of candidates stepped up, so assignment is
not an easy task. Therefore I defined some criteria’s that can help making a
decision and to which the community will hopefully agree to:
1. achieve greatest stakeholder and geographical diversity possible
2. give preference to those who have not yet been a facilitator
3. give preference to those that were participating in the WG meeting

Taking these criteria’s into account I drafted this matrix in which I
suggest (marked in green) the following volunteers:

Name
AC/SO/SG
Geographical Region
been a facilitator in the past
participated in the WG meeting
