Indeed, drop catching is something that is popular for a number of various attack scenarios, including out-of-bailiwick glue situations as explained first (I think) by JPNIC.

Not really "name collision" but "change of owner" so that over a time period it could be viewed as two delegations of the same name to two different owners. But as the context within which the two delegations are done is static over the time period, it has some characteristics of a name collision.

That said, not really what this study is about, right?
