NCSG Representation
NPOC Executive Committee (EC) members are active in the following NCSG committees:

a) NCSG Policy Committee (Poncelet Ileleji & Martin Silva)
b) NCSG Executive Committee (Poncelet Ilelji & Joan Kerr)

Participation in working groups
Nearly all members of the NPOC EC are participating in ICANN Working groups, but we need to do better and get more NPOC members active in ICANN working groups. For this reason, we will hold specific webinars for NPOC members to introduce specific working groups and topics; we will have outreach events held in conjunction with ICANN meetings and this will focus on ongoing ICANN policy making issues.

NPOC is the home for Not-for-Profit organizations wishing to contribute to the ICANN policy making processes. The main role of NPOC is to enable and support participation in policy making but NPOC also recognizes the Importance of capacity and awareness and building as a pre-requisite for N4Ps to have a voice in Internet Governance (IG).

Outreach in Hyderabad
NPOC outreach strategy involves working with umbrella organizations to build relationships on a local level. This is important, as we build our membership to encourage participation in the policy making process.
NPOC worked cooperatively with a large organization, Digital Empowerment Foundation and ICANN staff support, Maryam Bakoshi to ensure that the event was a success. And what a success!

NPOC's event at ICANN 57 in Hyderabad saw the continuation of NPOC's outreach, awareness and capacity building efforts. 55 Indian NGO's attended various ICANN working sessions, and participated in NPOC's two-hour awareness and capacity building event. The event focused on the security and privacy of NGOs and best use strategies regarding uses of the DNS by Not-for-Profit civil society organizations.

Pictures of the event can be found at – https://www.flickr.com/photos/glennmcknight/sets/72157674828966432

NPOC is continuing this outreach effort in 2017 by hosting, or participating in, various events under the title: “DNS (Domain Name System) Not-for-Profit Users Summit" and Not-for-Profit Operational Concerns Policy making in the DNS (NOCP). These regional one day events that provide an in-reach and an outreach platform for Internet ecosystem engagement in policy and action. The day consists of workshops, presentations, and round table discussions. The one day events are complemented by shorter partnered events at Internet Governance related meetings such as the IGF, WSIS-Forum, and ICANN.

Events under preparation for 2017 include:
Dakar, Senegal, January 2017; in conjuncture with ICANN 58 in Copenhagen (March); UN Headquarters in NY (Spring); EuroDig Estonia; and with ICANN 59 in Johannesburg (June); and in conjuncture with the WSIS Forum (Geneva). Further partnered events are planned for South America (Argentina) and Asia (Singapore). Details to be announced.

NPOC Ambassador Program
The goal of NPOC is to educate NPO/NGOs about Internet Governance and to encourage and engage them in the ICANN’s multistakeholder DNS policy process. NPOC’s strategy includes collaboration with regional organizations for outreach sessions, both during ICANN conferences, and as co-branded and invited engagement at other events.

NPOC’s outreach targets
1) Increased NPO/NGO interest in Internet Governance and in ICANN’s DNS policies.
2) Increased awareness of the NPO/NGO stake in ICANN’s policy process.
3) Enhanced NPOC membership and greater engagement in ICANN’s policy process.

NPOC NGO Ambassador Program objectives

1) Recruit applicants to NPOC’s NGO Ambassador Program
2) Assign NPOC Mentors to successful applicants, to co-work within ICANN’s policy processes
3) Participants undergo mentored supervision to work in support of NPOC’s purpose and goals.

Future Challenges
