Presuming you still have AA status, try to get themto put you on the other alliance flight. I have had them do that more than once recently.

I got rerouted via MAD to BRU, arr. Monday 10th Dec at 2:10pm. This means I miss the entire Day One happenings.

Will proceed to MIA tonight, arr. 11pm.

There's an alternative but not in the AA Oneworld Alliance.

A morning Aer Lingus flight to Dublin with a connection could get me into BRU at about 10p local Sunday night. Cheap bastards want $1800 for that and won't spring for it under protest! 😏😏

Would appreciate the hotel be advised of the delayed arrival.
