Has anyone checked the assignment records of these, and many other, goodies
lately:

US Pat. No. 6,829,653 Method and system for internationalizing domain names

US Pat. No. 6,446,133 Multi-language domain name service

US Pat. No. 6,314,469 Multi-language domain name service

US Pat. No. 6,182,148 Method and system for internationalizing domain names

These are just a few examples.

ICANN is interesting in not having an intellectual property disclosure
policy (much less a licensing policy for contributing entities).

Given attempts by some to patent such things as proxy whois service (with a
filing date long post-dating known proxy whois services), it might be
worthwhile to have some disclosure of interest relative to IP relevant to
subject matter under consideration as a standard practice.
