Subject: Rights Protection Mechanisms Implementation Review Team

Dear All,

Thank you very much for volunteering to be a member of the Rights Protection Mechanisms (RPM) Implementation Review Team (IRT), we look forward to working with you!

As you may have read on the Call for Volunteers<https://www.icann.org/en/announcements/details/call-for-volunteers-rights-protection-mechanisms-implementation-review-team-19-10-2022-en>, the objective of the group is to assist ICANN org in the implementation of the policy recommendations from Phase 1 of the Policy Development Process (PDP) Working Group on the Review of RPMs in All Generic Top-Level Domains (gTLDs) in line with the Consensus Policy Implementation Framework<https://www.icann.org/uploads/ckeditor/CPIF_v2.0_2019CLEAN.pdf> (CPIF).

More specifically, as indicated in the CPIF, the IRT “will serve as a resource to implementation staff on policy and technical questions that arise. An IRT will typically consist of, but will not be limited to, volunteers who were also involved in the development of the policy recommendations. As such, the IRT is expected to serve as a resource to staff on the background and rationale of the policy recommendations and return to the GNSO Council for additional guidance as required. Where relevant, the IRT should also include technical or subject-matter experts and contracted parties who can assist staff in the planning for the technical implementation of a policy change.”

In this context, please note that you are expected to be familiar with the substance and intent of the recommendations in the RPM PDP Phase 1 Final Report<https://gnso.icann.org/sites/default/files/file/field-file-attach/rpm-phase-1-proposed-24nov20-en.pdf>, ideally having participated in the RPM PDP Working Group<https://gnso.icann.org/en/group-activities/active/rpm>.

Please note, the IRT Guidelines<https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/irt-principles-guidelines-23aug16-en.pdf> apply to the work of this group. For more information about this IRT, please refer to the RPM IRT Community Wiki<https://community.icann.org/x/OYAFDQ>. Since the group is not expected to make any Consensus decisions, there will not be alternates or observers, and all participants will have a full “member” status.

Next steps:

  * Please indicate the time slots that suit you best in this doodle<https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/elxOMyMe> for the first RPM IRT meeting.
  * We intend to share documents on Google Drive, so please reply to this email indicating your Google account email address, if you have not yet done so in the sign up form.

Once we have found a suitable time, we will be in touch regarding the first meeting of the RPM IRT.

Thank you for your interest and, as we noted above already, we very much look forward to working with you.

Best regards,

Antonietta Mangiacotti
