Bad assumption.  If nothing else, it'll probably annoy the Fedora users, KDE users, and GNOME users. :-)

If it's a question of code being written to use the database, it won't benefit any of the other distributions/DEs only if

	1) you don't give the code away

or

	2) you do and nobody else picks it up.

For the first of them, if your interest is in the open-source environments, giving it away would be a Good Thing.  For the second of them, well, that's *their* loss, especially if there are some upstream "date and time" configuration panels that they can all just pick up.
