What about places that have a dot in their official name?

What about places that have a hyphen in their official name?

That's a discussion about which is the official name. If a zone was ever
needed for Leigh-on-Sea, then "Leigh on Sea" would be just plain
wrong, as would "Leigh" (which is a different place).
