Today the California Senate rejected Assembly Bill 385, which would have placed
a measure on the state ballot asking voters whether to cancel daylight saving
time. This is the bill that prompted me to fix some historical inaccuracies in
tzdata's Los Angeles entry a few days ago.
Sen. Jim Nelson (R-Gerber) voted against the bill, arguing that farmers benefit
from DST. He said, "Our crops have gotten accustomed to that. They've in fact
been bred to deal with that longer harvest season."
You just can't make this stuff up....
