Better is to have, in the code:

#ifdef DEPRECATE_TWO_DIGIT_YEARS
#undef DEPRECATE_TWO_DIGIT_YEARS
#define DEPRECATE_TWO_DIGIT_YEARS true
#else
#define DEPRECATE_TWO_DIGIT_YEARS false
#endif

so that it can't be misdefined.
