[UA-discuss] Quick Translation help, please

Just saying "appropriately" without any qualifications seems weak...

One could say not supporting IDN or long TLDs (i.e. do nothing) to be "appropriate" given particular contexts...

Of course our definition of "appropriate" would/should qualify that, but if this is going to be THE ONE sentence perhaps some effect at least pointing towards the direction that what we really are talking about is for users to be able to use IDN/longTLDs in about the same manner as legacy 2-3char TLDs should be good.

So some word expressing a more progressive approach than "appropriate" should be better.

Suggest:

Universal Acceptance is about systems being able to handle all domain names competently.

or if we must keep the original structure:

Universal Acceptance is the concept that all domain names should be treated competently.

Folks,

It’s wonderful to see the translations rolling in, such a testament to the diversity of the UASG membership!

The original statement was somewhat inaccurate, and one word is being changed (from “equally” to “appropriately”). Appropriately can also be thought of as “properly”, so depending on your language either word can be used.

Could you help in translating the changed statement below into your language?

Universal Acceptance is the concept that all domain names should be treated appropriately.

Dear all:

For our UA Use Case landing pages, we plan on having a simple message in as many languages as possible, so I hope that native speakers can help provide some additions to our list below:

Universal Acceptance is the concept that all domain names should be treated equally.

Thanks.

Don
