[Alac-sc-outreach] [cropp-rt] ICANN CROP FY19 ready for use by ICANN community

What it does mean unfortunately is that even EURALO wouldn't be able
to use CROP FY19 for IGF 2018 in Paris. Similarly, a RALO can't use it
to attend any national or sub regional IGFs. Which would seem to be
*the* best opportunities for outreach.

In the introduction about CROP, this has been said :

"Community leaders have outlined several key benefits that could be
achieved through a programmed approach to global outreach:

1) Building local/regional awareness and recruitment of new community members;
2) More effectively engaging with current members and/or
"reactivating” previously engaged ICANN community members; and
3) Communicating ICANN’s mission and objectives to new audiences.

I can see (2) becoming the core focus of CROP from now on as I don't
see how (1) and (3) can be fulfilled by attending ICANN sponsored
events since the audience at such events aren't new to ICANN (and even
for newcomers for ICANN F2F meetings, there are processes/workflows to
build awareness already (Fellowship, Nextgen) or which can be done
with travellers (ALAC, regional leaders) already there at such events.

I suppose a RIR meeting might be a potential for outreach, but (and I
would appreciate comments from those that have attended RIR meetings)
aren't the majority of such attendees either already aware of ICANN or
ineligible to join At-Large ?

The only ICANN sponsored events that could be for outreach are events
created by ICANN that are part of some of the regional strategic plans
like roadshow events and for launch of projects like the Virtual DNS
Entrepreneurship Center that was done for the Caribbean. The O&E
should start cataloging such possible CROP worthwhile events.

In an earlier email to her I argued for us to be able to attend our RIR meetings as these are in line with icann policy, she stated that they were in the process of writing the guidelines. So was glad to see these changes were adopted. Benedetta said had no idea about the GDD so sorry she used it as an example.
