Hi Niels - good ideas including to have 2 part session if needed - some
minor tweaks to the session outline below

Hi Rafik,

Could we also go for part 1 and part 2 (so two sessions).

In part 1 we could discuss specific impacts of ICANN of human rights,

In part 2 we could discuss different approaches and solutions, perhaps
already talk a bit about the charter?

Just a thought.

Good luck!

Best,

Niels

Hi Niels and everyone,

things are getting complicated since ICANN meetings team are putting as
upper limit of 90min to sessions. I am trying to find some workaround to get
more time but I cannot guarantee anything.
I will work with Jean-Jacques how we can proceed here.
Thanks for the info,
stay tuned.

Rafik

OK, sounds good and feasible. I would be happy if we can do it from
10:00 up to 12:30 though, there's so much to discuss. But I'll leave it to
the group and Rafiks intuition.

Title: Human right and ICANN - continuing the conversation

Description:

There is a growing recognition in parts of the community that some of
ICANN’s policies and other actions may have implications for human rights
like freedom of expression and the right to privacy. While ICANN is not the
place to negotiate over such rights, it would be advisable on
Insert "technical, legal " delete "political"
and other grounds to assess whether our work is fully consistent with
internationally agreed human rights laws and policies, and to identify
possible methods for addressing any incompatibilities.

To date, these issues have been discussed on a case by case basis. This
cross-community workshop will consider options for starting a process that
could address them in a more systemic manner.

Tentative agenda:

1. Introductions by facilitator (Niels ten Oever) - 5 minutes 2. Summary of
past discussion (Marilia Maciel) - 10 minutes 3. Short introduction to human
rights and its relevance + Q&A (Joy
Liddicoat) - 20 minutes
4. Presentation of case study on ICANN and human rights + Q&A (Monika
Zalnieriute) 30 minutes
5. Discussion on commencement of a process for a more systemic approach to
human rights and ICANN (45 minutes) 6. Summary (10 minutes) 7. Conclusion.
(5 minutes)

I just made this up (and haven't asked people if they are up for it, even
though I think so), so happy to discuss.

I prefer U shape since it will be a discussion as well.

I hope this helps. Will send a more substantive email about papers
after this.
