Hi everyone,

I’m looking forward to participating in this group and appreciate all of the introductions via email so we can move into meaningful conversations on our call!

I’m Jen Wolfe and it’s a pleasure to meet you all. Within the ICANN environment, I am the North American Nom Com Appointee to the GNSO Council, have been involved in several working groups and am currently chairing the GNSO Review Working Party.

In my professional life, I run a digital brand strategy advisory firm and have been working with leading global brands to not only navigate the gTLD application process, but build out business strategies and roll out plans for using the dot brand as a critical asset as part of holistic digital strategy integrating the online experience with the mobile and social experience. I drafted many brand gTLD applications, built financial models for the gTLDs for Fortune 500 companies and have a strong understanding of the policy and logistics involved in the process. Prior to starting my digital strategy firm, I built the largest woman owned intellectual property law firm in the U.S. with clients like P&G, Microsoft, Duke Energy, Scripps Networks, Kraft Foods, etc. and prior to that worked in marketing for a publishing company. Although I generally no longer practice law, I am licensed in New York and Ohio.

I have also written two books, Domain Names Rewired (on the new gTLd impact on brands) and Brand Rewired (future of branding in a digital world), both featuring interviews with executives from leading brands and co-authored with the former US Commissioner of Trademarks. I am the Click Z columnist for gTLDs and guest contribute to many other digital marketing publications. I am nationally accredited in public relations and have a black belt in six sigma process improvement methodology.

I’m looking forward to learning from all of you and sharing my perspective to help shape future rounds of gTLD applications. Thank you for the opportunity to introduce myself.

With kindest regards to all,

Jen

Hello everybody,

I am Anthony Harris, member of the executive team of the ISPCP Constituency.

Am also Executive Director of the Argentina Internet Association (CABASE), and Executive Director
of the Latin America and Caribbean Federation of Internet and Electronic Commerce ( an applicant
for the new gTLD - '.lat' )

I was a member of the GNSO Council task force which developed the first version of the Applicant
Guidebook for new gTLDs in 2006.

Many useful suggestions have been expressed to fuel the content discussions of this WG, I would
simply add a wish to the list: perhaps this time we can shorten the lead time to acceptance of
applications for the second round of new gTLDs, since the ferocious lobby against the program
that was unleashed by known actors - the program was more or less described as the "mother
of all evils" - successfully delayed the application process for four years. Internet innovation
and deployment times tend to be considerably shorter...

Hello All,

I believe these introductions are a really good thing that will benefit the work to come. I would like to encourage those that have not sent an introduction message, and are inclined to do so, to respond to the list whenever you have a moment.

My name is Steve Chan and I will be leading the ICANN policy staff support for this Discussion Group. Previously, I spent a number of years with the New gTLD Program, so I hope that my experiences there will be beneficial to this effort.

Best,
Steve

Hello,

Great to see the introductions and the group starting to form, so I guess it is a good time to jump in

My name is Jeffrey Eckhaus and I am with Rightside Group. The parent company of eNom and Name.com<http://Name.com> both registrars as well as United TLD the registry for 30+ new TLDs as well as Rightside Registry, the back end service provider for 150+ new TLDs.

As you can see, we are a vertically integrated entity with an interest in the rollout of another round of new TLDs and will hopefully be able to give perspective on all parts of the value chain.

Thanks

Jeff
