Please read (if you haven’t already) SSAC 51 on the use of the ‘Whois' term and why all that time ago, the SSAC recommended more precise wording when talking about registration data (services, the actual data and the protocol) so that people could avoid the confusion raised by using ‘Whois’ terminology and be very clear on what was being referred to.
