[ICANN Academy WG] WG: post to list regarding pilot SO/AC Leadership training in Toronto

Not having yet seen the approved budget because it has not yet been posted, I can only talk about what I thought I understood in our meeting earlier today, i.e., that $40,000 is included in the approved budget for leadership training but not necessarily specifically for the training that staff has planned for Toronto. I believe that Xavier clarified that the leadership training planned for Toronto would be eligible for some of those funds but they could be used for other leadership training expenses as well.

If I am correct in my understanding (and I may not be), it is probably not correct to say "a pilot program is what is approved within the FY13 budget". Please correct me if I am wrong.

That said, I am willing to help in the processes going forward whatever those may be.

Chuck

Subject: [ICANN Academy WG] WG: post to list regarding pilot SO/AC Leadership training in Toronto
Importance: High

Resent: now including Filiz Yilmaz in the list

Dear all, as per request of Filiz Yilmaz I forward her message to the ICANN Academy WG in continuation of the discussion held in the meeting today.

<Beginning of forwarded message>

Dear Sandra and Olivier,

Regarding some of the remarks made towards the end of the ICANN Academy WG session today, I feel the need to pass further information from Staff side about our view and the further steps until Toronto. I am not sure if I have posting rights to the e-mail list so if you could pass this mail to others on behalf of me, I will be most grateful.

While I have been putting effort in following the discussions of this group, I am not aware of any consolidated view of the group on a possible curriculum or fundamentals of a Leadership Training and Orientation program or any similar work to date. As I mentioned during the session, such a pilot program is what is approved within the FY13 budget and I am willing to hear the groups' inputs on this issue so that as the lead staff for the project, I can consider recommendations and inputs of the group towards the pilot program in Toronto. And I am very happy to stay in contact and willing to continue attending the meetings of the group to be able to build the initial effort in Toronto to the best within the limited time we have until then.

I do hope the ICANN Academy WG can support the ICANN Staff in our implementation by providing guidance and recommendations for this important activity to have better informed and further engaged SO/AC Leadership in the benefit of the entire ICANN community.

Kind regards

---

<End of forwarded message>

Although we could not follow the proposed agenda, consider the discussion as very important and fruitful and thank for the active and numerous participation. I like to underline that an agreement on a curriculum remains a key element for the implementation process for a pilot project in Toronto. I will start a discussion after the Prague meeting on this mailing list and consider another conference call as necessary. A proposed timeline will be forwarded to you.

Meanwhile I encourage you the continue the discussion on this mailing list and look forward to your inputs.

Best Sandra
