 Dear ISPCP colleagues,

Thank you very much for your trust by electing me as one of your council representatives.
I'll continue in providing my best efforts to support the ISPCP interests during the coming period of the reorganized GNSO.

I'm sure that together with Mark's ICANN experience we'll have a council team complementing well each other.

My sincere thanks also to Jaime for his willingness to serve. I understand my council work to be done for the benefit of all regions.

Dear ISPCP Members,

My apologies, this did not get to the mailing list to be distributed, I will look into that.

On Wednesday 7 October the GNSO Secretariat was requested to take over the ISPCP election process for GNSO Counsellors that was currently underway. Voting closed on Friday, 9 October 2009 at 22:00 GMT. 

The voting results are:
Wolf-Ulrich Knoben 8 votes
Mark Mcfadden      6 votes
Jaime Wagner       5 votes

It is my understanding that the candidates with the highest number of votes are the elected GNSO Counsellors. Congratulations Wolf-Ulrich Knoben and Mark McFadden and welcome to the Council!

ELECTION - ICANN gNSO Council Representative

In accordance with both the ICANN bylaws and the new ISPCP bylaws that  have been adopted as a result of recent gNSO reform, this is the official notice of elections for  ISPCP representative to ICANN's gNSO Council.

With the adoption of the most recent ICANN By-laws, the ISPCP is  required to elect two members to the ICANN gNSO Council.  These two individuals will serve new terms on the newly constituted gNSO Council.

The nomination period closed on Monday, 29 September 2009 and the  ISPCP is fortunate to have three people who were nominated and are  willing to serve in this role.

Jaime Wagner - Brazil
Mark McFadden - United States

Every ISPCP member organization in good standing is eligible to submit
two votes for two separate individuals.

The ISPCP Articles call for an election period of one week.

Because the current Secretariat of the Constituency was nominated, and an independent Election Manager was considered preferable, the GNSO secretariat took over the election process on 7 October, 2009. 

The election period  
. opens on Friday, 2 October 2009 at 0600 GMT
. closes on Friday, 9 October 2009 at 2200 GMT.

Votes for two of the three candidates were submitted to gnso.secretariat at gnso.icann.org

The Election Manager sent out a reminder of the Election  Period to all members on Thursday, 7 October 2009.

TEN (10) of the voting members returned ballots.
FOUR (4) of the voting members DID NOT RETURN Ballots

Of the TEN voting members, NINE Voted for TWO candidates,
ONE Voted for one candidate only.

The voting results are:
Wolf-Ulrich Knoben 8 votes
Mark Mcfadden      6 votes
Jaime Wagner       5 votes

This is by secret ballot, so no names are disclosed as to who voted for who.
You are however requested to check your email address to which the ballot was sent in case there was a mistake.

Please inform me individually if you contest the results of the election and the reason for doing so.

If I hear nothing by COB on Monday, 12 October 2009, the names of the two elected candidates will be added to the GNSO Council mailing list as observers till they take their seats in the new Council on 28 October in Seoul and the current Council will be informed of the results.
