Dear Pitinan, All

Below are my observations on document “Bangla_LGR_20180809.pdf”.

· Double dotted circle appeared in table 7.

· Either of “Ref” or “Repha” should be used throughout the document.

· Section 6.1 In Script Variants; Case II

o Section may have sub heading as Repha and Ra-phala for clear reading

o the note "Note: As Bangla and Assamese ক and ঠ look exactly the same, the resultant combinations with 'Ref' look identical. Addition of 'Ref' does not make any difference." below the table 12 is little ambiguous. It may be rephrased to "Note: The Ra+Hasant+Consonant combination formed either by Bangla and Assamese Ra produce the same glyph as shown in the table 12. Hence the resultant glyph despite having different code point values looks exactly the same"

· Section 6.2

o the text says the cross script study done for Oriya too, however there is no text or table with respect to Oriya in the following text.

o NBGP mistyped as NBPG

· Section 7.1

o point 1: Neither য় YYA (U+09DF), ড় RRA (U+09DC) and ঢ় RRHA (U+09DD) characters are added into Section 5.1 "Code Point Repertoire Inclusion" nor the equivalent form i.e. “য”YA (U+09AF)+”়”Nukta (U+09BC), "ড"DDA (U+09A1)+”়” Nukta (U+09BC) and "ঢ"DDHA (U+09A2)+”়” Nukta (U+09BC) added in this point. It means that these characters/combinations are not the part of Bangla LGR at this point. Please make sure if this is intended.

o Point 2: Category “N” has not been added with C. Will there be no possibility of CNH?

o Point 4: category “N” is missing from list. However in example, we cited an example of CND i.e. ঝ়ঁ

o Point 5 : Similarly, is there no possibility of CNX?

Thanks & Regards,

Neha Gupta

Subject: [Neobrahmigp] Bangla LGR proposal v3.17

Dear NBGP members,

Please find attached the Bangla LGR proposal v3.17 date 2018-08-09 for your consideration.

This version has taken valuable inputs from the face to face meeting in Dhaka into account and update the Bangla LGR proposal accordingly.

The major edits are:

1. Updated 'Section 3 Background on Script and Languages Using It'.

2. Changed the following terms through out the document.

                a. Replaced ‘Bengali’ with ‘Bangla'

                b. Replaced ‘Assamese' with ‘Asamiya'

                c. Replaced ‘Halant’ with ‘Hasanta’

3. Edited the Whole Label Evaluation Rule, update the set of characters which the Nukta can follow. Please see section 7.1 Rule1 page 43.

4. Added Appendix II 'Bengali consonants and their allographs’ page 55.

5. Updated Contributors list. Please see section 8 page 47.

Please note that only in the code point repertoire where the names of code points remain as Unicode standard terms. We understand that there is the requirement to use the term ‘Bangla’, however, technically, the system will automatically retrieve the names defined in the standard which is out of NBGP or ICANN control. Please see table 8, 9, 10 page 32-33.

Kindly let us know your feedback or suggestions.

We are also taking this package for the Integration Panel to review in parallel.

With warm regards,

Pitinan.
