Hello Cathrin, Susan and Alan,

We posted two public comments yesterday pertaining to the scheduling of reviews, following on the conversations with the community about challenges with many reviews taking place concurrently.   We are seeking input on ways to address the challenges with community bandwidth and workload, as well as ICANN resources in the immediate term, and on principles and related options for developing a more sustainable and realistic review schedule in the future.  Please see a brief summary below, and there will be a blog from Theresa Swinehart posted on icann.org today.

I would like to join your leadership call later this week to provide you with additional context and address your questions and concerns.  Please note that the extensive work of RDS-WHOIS2 Review Team and progress you made is recognized and addressed in the short-term proposal.  While it is important for us to get input from the broader community on possible options to address the current challenges, my team and I continue our full commitment and support to the RDS-WHOIS2 work, without any interruption or change.

Short-term Options<https://www.icann.org/public-comments/specific-reviews-short-term-timeline-2018-05-14-en>  impacting two Specific Reviews (ATRT3 and RDS-WHOIS) with various options that ease the burden by limiting the scope or deferring the start of the review. There are options presented for both of these reviews, from maintaining the current path of the review, to limiting scope, or in the case of ATRT3, considering a postponement of no more than one year. Each option carries with it advantages and disadvantages, and some options will result in potential cost savings.

Long-term Options<https://www.icann.org/public-comments/reviews-long-term-timeline-2018-05-14-en> that would help move toward a more realistic and sustainable review schedule in the future.  The options would impact Specific and Organizational reviews, and are based on several key principles – aim for no more than three to four reviews per year, recognize limited community resources, ensure adequate funding for reviews, and ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the reviews.  Some long-term options would require changes to the Bylaws, which are noted.

You must be kidding.

Seeing as MSSI is listed as the organiser, could we please get clarity from the MSSI secretariat on what is happening? How come there are options being set out for community consideration without any discussion with the Review Team?

Sorry for the silence, I just got back.

I am available for all but the 1st Thursday slot.

In light of the recent ICANN announcement suggesting that this review be halted or otherwise affected, meeting is more important as I think that the three of us need to reply in unison if possible.

At this point, none of the 6 slots are good for all three of us.

Where are we on next Monday;s plenary meeting?
