Over night we passed another milestone on Twitter — now we have more than 1,600 followers (current count 1,604)! 

Albeit short, the ICANN 51 week was a key period for us to connect with our audiences on social media. Thanks to our members who effectively tweeted, mentioned our handle and diligently RTed throughout the meeting, we didn’t miss the opportunity to push out content and gain tractions. I would like to share with you some of the stats that I quickly collected: 

Since 23 Sep (the last ALAC call when we reported on the social media performance), we have gained 95 new followers. During the ICANN 51 week, we gained about 50 new followers (contributing to 52% of the fan base growth).

Since 23 Sep, we sent out 141 tweets and received 302 retweets. During ICANN 51, we sent out 106 tweets (75% of content contribution) and received 261 retweets (86% of interaction).

The graph below shows that the growth rate of our followers is (roughly) positively correlated to the number of tweets we sent out.

Nevertheless, merely focusing on numbers may not be the best approach to measure our social media performance. There is always room for improvement. If you have suggestions on how we could do better for live tweeting during ICANN meetings, as well as pushing out meaningful content, we could discuss this in our future Social Media WG calls.
