Dear Boban and ICANN SSR Subteam,
Thank you for your letter on “Planned Workshop in LA”, sent on 03 October 2017 (http://mm.icann.org/pipermail/ssr2-review/2017-October/000632.html <http://mm.icann.org/pipermail/ssr2-review/2017-October/000632.html>). After careful consideration and based on LA Workshop plans, the Board agrees for ICANN SSR Subteam to continue with their LA Workshop as long as the purpose is to get a better understanding of ICANN’s processes and Information Security practices to help with SSR review work.
In line with Board's 3rd of October letter, we believe it is important that review team members understand inner workings of ICANN Organization and how they can affect Security, Stability and Resiliency of system of Internet Unique Identifiers.
“[The Board agrees] Understanding, at a high level, the work that ICANN does on many of these fronts could be helpful to give the RT a full picture of ICANN’s work. That is much different from performing detailed assessments or audits of these items.”
We strongly advise the subteam to document their observations concisely, so it can be used effectively for the future work of SSR review team.
All the best,

> We intend to continue with our LA workshop as planned, as this is a critical information gathering exercise, we will then enter into a good faith dialogue to address the boards concerns both in Abu Dhabi or through any other alternative times that may be available. We hope to come to mutual understanding on the outputs and eventual recommendations that will be drafted as a result of this workshop.
