Summer Time Directive implementation delay

I have now been advised by the DTI that

Thank you for your enquiry. Previous EC Directives on summer time have set
the start and end dates of summer time for a specified period and have been
implemented by an order in council under the Summer Time Act 1972. The
latest Directive, though, sets dates for an indefinite period and
implementation will require an order in council under the European
Communities Act 1972 to amend the Summer Time Act 1972 accordingly. The
intention is that it be laid before Parliament during February.

I hope that this is helpful.

	Jim Logan
	DTI
