Dear Subteam Members,

Thank you allowing us to clarify the procurement process for the assessor of the ICANN Ombudsman Office and the involvement of the Subteam in that process.

You may recall that the Subteam was involved closely in the setting of the scope for the project, providing useful edits which contributed to clarity and precision of the RFP. In addition, the Subteam was encouraged to reach out to any potential candidates to assure that we receive a diverse pool of qualified candidates; again, we certainly achieved that objective, too.

Once the RFP closed, it is standard ICANN practice for the procurement team to follow the prescribed process to ensure confidentiality, impartiality, fairness and discretion afforded to the bidders and the finalists. This practice preserves the integrity and independence of the procurement processes.

We are currently in the final phase of selecting the assessor, with only reference checks remaining to be done before contracting. We have laid the groundwork for contracting to be completed expeditiously. Once the contract is executed, we will share with the Subteam information about the selected vendor and our due diligence methodology.

Other than this note, there will not be an update for the Group on Monday. We would be happy to schedule an ad hoc call later next week, once the contracts are signed. Also, to prepare for the start of the assessment, you and the Subgroup members may wish to schedule a call before Copenhagen to set your expectations and establish a work relationship with the assessor. We would be happy to assist with this, too.

Many thanks and best wishes,
Lars
