Hi,

I have concerns about this amendment that are summarised below:

  1. Arbitrary increases on wholesale price of .COM domains by up to 7% a year after two year freeze. There is a potential for prices to be 70% higher than they currently are in 10 years time.
  2. There is no transparency and accountability of why Verisign are paying $20 million over to ICANN and what these funds will be used for.
  3. ICANN seems to have disregarded an overwhelming opposition to these price hikes previous times (e.g. disregarding price caps for .org, .biz and .info TLDs) and it seems like history will be repeating itself here.

A more fairer would be capping price increases to inflation which currently isn't at 7% (2.4% globally and lower in many developed nations). There also has to be greater transparency, accountability and consultation with industry over any proposed changes.

Thanks,

Mark Goninon
