Hello,
My name is Patrick O’Neill. I am a student at Xavier University. I first started creating my websites over eight years ago when I was a freshman in high school. As a student, I thought that websites were unattainable, but that wasn’t the case. I was able to get set up on a .org domain for an affordable price. That low barrier to entry made web design on a “real website” attainable and most importantly accessible to a student on a limited budget.

If there are price hikes on .org domains, this means fewer people will have access to top level domains. This makes the internet LESS accessible rather than MORE accessible.

There are many reasons why I and so many others love the internet, but least of those reasons is accessibility. If in 2011 when I started web design, I didn’t have an affordable .org domain at my disposal, I’m not sure I would have continued down the path web design.

Though, I don’t do web design professionally or regularly now, web designed acted as a creative outlet and form of exploration in the digital world.

I ask that you keep the prices of .org websites low so one day a student, just like me, can start their own website.

Thank you,

Patrick O’Neill
