.org domains are part of the foundation of the Web as we know it today.
Perhaps more than any other TLD, individuals, small non-profits and
community groups rely on the .org domain to publish their materials, find
supporters and make a home on the Internet. By allowing unlimited price
increases on these domains for no legitimate reason and in no way tied to
the costs of maintaining the .org registry, ICANN would be putting all of
these organizations' ability to communicate at risk. It is almost
unconscionable to consider this provision in the .org registry renewal
agreement. Instead, price caps should be fully maintained or even further
strengthened in the coming years.
