Actually, there is. Certainly within At-Large, 
there is a strong feeling that the RC Movement 
deserves such protection. There is FAR less 
support for the IOC. The belief has not centered 
on legal issues, but rather the nature of the 
organizations and their need for (financial) 
protection. In the case of the IOC, their 
reputation (whether deserved or not) of going 
after other organizations who use the Olympic 
names or symbols in unrelated businesses (ie your 
neighbourhood pizza restaurant) has left a bad 
taste in peoples' mouths. And the magnitude of 
their commercial interactions (broadcasting 
rights, etc) leaves many with the technically 
incorrect view that they are a commercial 
organization and not (as is the reality) a not-for-profit.

But the question is more complex, since many 
people would consider Médecins Sans Frontières or 
OXFAM to be as worthy as the Red Cross, yet are 
not being considered at all in these discussions.
