Theo, hope you are doing well.

No need to read too much into my words, I'm just saying the GNSO Council's letter is still useful, as it helps us show to people who were not a part of this process that the community is in full support of this negotiation. :)

The idea is precisely to highlight the CPH's efforts by giving it the community support.

Hi Mark,

I am not sure if I understand what you are proposing?

For the first time in ICANN history the CPH's are volunteering to make some key critical adjustments to the contract we have with ICANN. CPH's are determined to advance the language where the community always felt it was lacking in certain areas.

So I am not sure how this process needs more legitimacy and transparancy? Our goal is very clear I think and I am a big supporter of the letter as it will be a game changer in the end.

But maybe I am missing some key details here?

Thanks,
Theo

Thank you, Greg.

That letter reached the BC this morning and I had a read. It is very much in alignment with everything we have discussed and what is being recommended by the Small Team.

I will incentivize the members to move ahead in drafting our letter so that we continue to add legitimacy and transparency to the process, leaving behind a solid trail of documents that validates this to the broader Internet community and something all stakeholders are getting behind.

Dear GNSO Councillors,

As you may recall, a recommendation in the DNS Abuse small team report was to consult with contracted parties re: potential issues with the existing accreditation agreements with ICANN. It seems Contracted Parties may be ahead of the curve and have sent a CPH letter to ICANN org re: DNS Abuse provisions in their contracts (see https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/correspondence/heineman-demetriou-to-marby-04nov22-en.pdf) . I am flagging it here for everyone’s reference.

Thanks,

Greg
