Hi all,

Looking forward to our discussion tomorrow. We wanted to send a quick follow-up note to add some additional context to our answers and to remind the team that the GDPR has indeed limited access to gTLD registration data for all parties, including ICANN org and our Compliance team. This includes limiting ICANN org’s ability to check the accuracy of gTLD registration data. ICANN org proposed to the European Commission that the proposed NIS2 legislation recognize ICANN’s legitimate interest in having access to non-public gTLD registration data for the purpose of checking accuracy. Under the GDPR, however, ICANN org still lacks the ability to directly access gTLD registration data.

Again, as liaison to the group and on behalf of my org colleagues, we’re excited to be working with you all on these important issues and are committed to supporting the group’s work in whatever way is necessary to make progress and move the group’s work forward.

Please find attached the ICANN org responses to the questions from the team (answers are included in line in blue). We hope these answers are useful and can help move the groups discussions forward. We’ll provide a brief overview of the answers tomorrow, and will also allow everyone digest the information and come back with follow-up questions next week should they arise. Of course, throughout our scoping exercise the org stands ready to work with the team to help in whatever way we can.
