Dear Kurt,

The Registries Stakeholder Group wants to express our deep appreciation for your tireless dedication to the EPDP process. As we all know this is historically one of the thorniest issues to face ICANN in many years and one which many the skeptic believed could not have been achieved. The Phase One Final Report is proof as to the ability of the multistakeholder model to tackle difficulties issues of tremendous importance, even where time is short, and find compromise amongst differing views and competing needs. This success is a testament to your work guiding the group.

You engaged with the team and staff with unfailing good humor and fortitude and we believe that shows in our Phase One Final Report. Thank you so much for lending your skills and knowledge so willingly to this task, and we, without doubt, would have not come to our conclusions on Phase I without you. We certainly lament not having your presence as we continue into Phase Two. We truly believe that the excellent ground work that you have laid, will come to fruition in the successful completion of the mammoth tasks yet to come.

Best wishes in your next steps. We’re consoled by the fact that you will continue to share your expertise with the ICANN community. Looking forward to seeing you in Kobe.

Thanks,
RySG EPDP Team and the Registries Stakeholder Group

Dear Kurt-

I have been reflecting a lot on your decision and I just want to say that your valued, unique personality is what I believe made you extremely successful in this role. You are a thoughtful, balanced and open-minded individual who led the group in a practical, calm, kind and professional manner. You created an atmosphere of respect in what was a challenging context; hard issues, passionate viewpoints, long-standing history of many who have worked within the ICANN world for many years and, on top of it, significant time constraints. You should be very proud of your work and contribution; we are all grateful for your commitment. I wish you only the best, as a friend and colleague, in what is destined to be a successful next endeavor.

Sincerely,

Diane

Kurt,

I just wanted to echo everyone’s sentiments expressed thus far and thank you for guiding us to this point! You were tasked with a new impossible job and you embraced it from day one. I very much appreciate all of your efforts and hope that you aren’t too scarred by the experience ☺

Kurt,

There’ll be more to say face to face in Kobe but for now, kudos my friend. Very few people could do what you have done. In leading this EPDP you have added to your already extraordinary contribution to ICANN and its multi-stakeholder model and I’m humbled to have watched you do it and to have been a very small part of it.

Cheers,

CD

Hi Everyone:

I am sorry that you learned about me resigning my position as EPDP Chair by being copied on the resignation notice. It’s not good form but I thought it better to let my boss know first so that he doesn’t hear it from someone else.

I am glad to have worked with you - getting to know some of you for the first time and some of you better than I did before this. I will continue to lead and aid the transition of leadership however it is required. I am also happy to chat informally about any topic.

During the last several months, many of you provided signs of support - small and large, inadvertent and intentional. They were always appreciated and important to me, and never went unnoticed. I also appreciated the criticism that was offered, as it was always constructive.

To the Support Team, you’ll hear more from me later.

I’ll see you on the next call or in Kobe.

Best regards,

Kurt
