Dear Stephanie and all,

Only staff can post to the ntfy lists as these are for dial in detail distribution only.
Gnso-rds-pdp-purpose at icann.org is the discussion mailing list for the Purpose sub team members.

There are always 2 mailing lists per Working Group and sub team, the ntfy list for conference calls, and the mailing list without "ntfy" in front which is for members to discuss on.

Hope this helps!

Nathalie

Since my first post to the sub-group was (sob) rejected, I take the liberty of sending it to the whole list. Also of interest to the privacy group, and doubtless the data elements group, so I make no apology. This is not a simple opinion, but it is thorough.
cheers Stephanie

For those wishing to understand how data protection commissioners manage
the interpretation of purpose and legitimate interests, you may find the
Opinion 06/2014 which the group published as a resource during the
recent negotiation of the European Regulation on data protection. It is
long, but thorough, and is available on the website at
http://ec.europa.eu/justice/data-protection/article-29/documentation/opinion-recommendation/files/2014/wp217_en.pdf.
Pages 27-30, in my view, are particularly relevant to our discussions,
but I defer to practitioners in EU privacy law for their views.
Cheers Stephanie Perrin
