NCAP DG,

I appreciate all the comments and suggested edits so far on the document previously called “Data Sensitivity Study”, which has been renamed to the “A Perspective Study of DNS Queries for Non-Existent Top-Level Domains”.

To address some of the concerns, I did some additional analysis on the long tail of low querying source IP addresses during 2020 DITL. I have put those measurements and analysis in Annex 2. I believe these new measurements do not change any of the analysis presented in the main study; instead, they only further support that the long tail of IPs (~92% of total unique IPs) in 2020 DITL are not representative of top talking IP sources that constitute most traffic (~98% of total 2020 DITL).

I will present this new data on Wednesday. I find these new insights insightful and reaffirming. They also pose a whole bunch of questions (not NCAP related) that I hope future research can further explore.

A reminder that the final call edits or comments is COB this Monday – January 24, 2022.

Best,
Matt Thomas
