[Npoc-discuss] Attention NPOC Member and Citizen of the Internet: Engage with the Pathfinder Initiative

Klaus,
I´m amazed by the timing your initiative. So please let me ask you for
a few clarifications, so as to understand where the initiative is coming
from and how does it help NPOC during ICANN56 meeting in Helsinki, which
is a very short one in case you have not noticed:
1. how do you expect to squeeze one more meeting in a B-Agenda foreseen
for the 4 day Helsinki meeting? Have you transmitted this ideas of
extra meetings to the Council (Volker and Donna) and/or Staff? There has
been little reaction so far in the GNSO Council about the agenda we are
expecting.
2. who is going to pay for this? Is this part of ICANN policy budget
which is foreseen to be reduced in FY17?who is exactly behind this
initiative and would you please point me to their SOI?
3. and before further discussing this initiative any further, please
tell me exactly when and for how long are we going to sit in Helsinki to
discuss about another issue that interests me: NPOC participation in the
policy work of the GNSO. After Marrakesh and a few very unpleasant
e-mail exchanges with Sam, I still have the feeling that NPOC is falling
short of its mission in terms of our engagement as a group in the very
relevant policy work ongoing in ICANN right now. So you will excuse me
but I consider that our role is much more than a “window” that we
can choose to use or not as I have tried to explain to Sam many time. I
think it is a serious responsibility we have to face, or else if we
prefer other initiatives, leave our space free for new generation, like
the successful Ambassadors Program, to ACTIVELY participate in ICANNs
policy work. The name of the room of the NPOC policy meeting you can
give me later.
I suggest to distribute the requested clarifications to “all”
members of NPOC so we can engaged openly in considering the benefits of
this initiative, as far as ICANN56 is concerned. Maybe you should
consider it for one of the longer meetings.
