Dear Carlos

Thank you very much for your insightful questions and giving me the
opportunity to respond below.

Pathfinder was partnering with NPOC during a number of ICANN meetings.
For logistical reasons we could not do so during the last two ICANN
meetings. It is very difficult for an organization like NPOC to attract
new members without an outreach event. In the case of Helsinki we had a)
the advantage of time for preparing and b) the ability to connect with a
large number of Finnish NGO's beforehand.

I am fully aware about the fact. In fact the first proposal submitted to
the NPOC ExCom was for the Friday before the ICANN event. The NPOC Chair
Mr. Rudi Vansnick suggested that the meeting would be moved to the
Monday as NPOC outreach. We did this, but as you might have noticed that
the announcement is talking about provisional dates and we are still
keeping the Monday option open.

See above. This is not an extra meeting. If the event is taking place on
Monday, it will be a NPOC event with the support of Pathfinder. If the
event will take place on the Friday it will be a Pathfinder event where
NPOC has the option to join as a partner.

Pathfinder is responsible for raising all the funds needed for an event
on Friday. (If NPOC decides to partner in the event, NPOC can feel free
to contribute to the event, but that is not mandatory and up to NPOC. If
the event is taking place on Friday, I hope ICANN will be able to
support the event. Pathfinder is an initiative of the Global Knowledge
Partnership Foundation.

Fully agree. As far as I am aware the discussion is ongoing within NPOC.
I would like to observe that in my opinion policy making is a much
broader field then just participation in working groups or just being a
window. We need to be all and much more at the same time. I refer you
also to the attached document and I would appreciate very much your
detailed comments on it as It would help us to progress as a
constituency and as ICANN.

Please excuse me that I feel unable to comment on any issues you might
have with Mr. Sam Lanfranco. As a good friend of mine, I know he is more
then capable to comment for himself if he deems it necessary

I suggest to distribute the requested clarifications to “all” members of
NPOC so we can engaged openly in considering the benefits of this
initiative, as far as ICANN56 is concerned. Maybe you should consider it
for one of the longer meetings.

I hope you think that I have done this with this email, but if there are
any further question please let me know.

I hope you don't mind that I also observe that you did not comment on
the substance of the Pathfinder Initiative and I would very much hear
your opinion on it.

With a big hug, Abrazos Fuertes
