Its actually a "me vs. them" view. In this case, "me" has something 
today, the capability to create policy through the GNSO/ICANN process. 
"them" wants to take that away. "me" views this as a "bad thing" because 
"me" hasn't received any consideration in return for what is being given up.

There is no exchange of value - it is yet another case of the registries 
getting something for nothing. I don't care how you paint it up, or 
really, how CORE benefits from it, but the fact remains that for a 
straight registrar, this is a bad deal.
