[Rt4-whois] FW: Columbia Meeting - Question to Rod and ICANN Staff

Bill,

This is an excellent question for Rod and/or the wonderful ICANN staff who are working with us.

It was mentioned in our last call that a budget, one presumes an interim budget, has been proposed for this Review Team. Could we get the details of that proposal, and what underlying assumptions went into it – e.g., expectations re: travel support/meetings?

I will also check with Brian to see how his RT handled travel – and how many F2F meetings they had (as part of, and separate from, ICANN meetings).

Best,

Kathy Kleiman

While not an expert on ICANN travel policies, I don’t believe that the 3-trip limit would apply to a Review Team. The policy found at the link Olof forwarded, dated 5 April 2010, makes no mention of restrictions on Review Team travel, at least none that I found.

It is my understanding that ICANN will fund reasonable Review Team travel. Given that there is no mention of Review Teams in current ICANN policy, I suggest that a reasonable interpretation is that travel limitations in current Policy apply only to those items specifically mentioned in that Policy. Review travel would be, and should be above at beyond those limitations (if any).

Perhaps that should be made explicit at some point.

I too would like to finalize our meeting dates, etc.

Dear All,

I am relying on ICANN travel support in order to attend face to face meetings. As I understand the travel support policies, this funding is limited to 3 meetings per year.

Many thanks Sharon for offering to host a meeting in January. I am flexible on the location and that timeframe and only have the constraint of ICANN travel support.

I also have no objection to an alternate designated by Sharon since Sharon is the only Law Enforcement representative in our group. Based on the published scope and goals of our Review, it is essential that we address the law enforcement aspects.

If we do go ahead and have a meeting in Cartagena, I believe we all need to finalize our travel itineraries and

decide on our meeting dates and times.

As others have commented, I agree that we need to move forward and elect a Chair and Vice-Chair on our next call. Believe that will help us make faster progress.

Kind regards,

Lynn

	Kathy,

As you know, I will not be attending the Columbia meeting. I would very much support a meeting in January, for purely selfish reasons of wanting to meet everyone. If it would be useful, I am more than happy to host a meeting, if given enough warning. My offices are at Docklands - other than that, willing to travel to wherever - but like most of us have a very full diary, so plenty of warning is very helpful.

	Sharon
