Thanks Martin. I am trying to express a preference for reviewing and discussing AGB language in a live zoom rather than just emailing about it. I think we also need to remember that some are new to participating in this process.

I don't mind calls being shorter than scheduled. Not sure that time is wasted if the call is shorter than anticipated?

Would you prefer to have fewer meetings and consider more topics in the course of one longer meeting?

Hi Anne,

I raised the point of efficiency on the last call and appreciate your comments. Generally, I agree that the calls are useful to discuss the inputs raised in the draft language documents. However, based on recent consecutive calls, as well as a few late-cancellations, there could be some quick improvements, including a queue of language revisions to be ready to feed into the IRT review process on demand. I agree that members should be familiar with the AGB and proposed revisions to help progress efficiently, in fact, I think that has been the case regarding most recent language revisions - they were relatively straightforward and only needed 10-15 minutes of an hour’s scheduled call. We lost 45 minutes of participants’ valuable time that could have moved on to the next topic. We have now also lost this week’s call, which is unfortunate.

I am not sure why we need to wait until March to refine the process to be more efficient?

Kind regards,

Martin

Thanks Lars. I was in the SPS meeting in DC last week on Nov 30 but reviewed the Zoom recording. Regarding efficiencies, I believe it is useful to review the new AGB language in the IRT meetings as it becomes available rather than relying on email alone and input received to drafts in a format other than the meetings. The reason is that everyone should be familiar with the topics and the questions that were raised before the language goes out for public comment. We don't want to be getting a bunch of public comment on issues that the full IRT has already considered and hopefully the live IRT sessions are the most effective method for addressing the questions raised in the Google doc and otherwise.

Agree with you it may be appropriate to reexamine working methods in San Juan, but for now, I would stick with the tools we are using.

Thank you,
Anne

Dear IRT members,

I am sorry to inform you that our next plenary meeting, scheduled for 5 December, will have to be cancelled. Unfortunately, we are not ready to share a new topic this week. We still plan to share with you language on Topic 30: GAC Advice/GAC Early Warning.

Due to the format of the calendar we cannot cancel these, so please be sure to update your calendars.

Many thanks and best wishes,
Lars
