[tz] A simple solution to have zones merge into another zone

I discovered and fixed a bug in my patch. I am not going to continue 
posting it here, as I do not want to swamp the list with stuff outside 
its target.
Before anyone tries to use the patch I posted before, please write to me 
to get an updated version.
