[Gnso-newgtld-wg-wt5] Initial Report draft and ICANN63 sessions

Dear Work Track members,

Work Track 5 will be holding its face-to-face sessions at ICANN63 on Saturday 20 October from 9:00 -13:15 local time. Additional information is available here: https://63.schedule.icann.org/meetings/901599.

Part of the face-to-face time will be devoted to discussing the WT5 draft Initial Report. Please find the draft Initial Report attached in Word and PDF. This draft incorporates feedback received from WT members on the sections previously shared, and also includes content for the remaining sections of the report. Please note that is a working draft produced by staff, and that not all of the WT co-leaders have had the chance to review the document fully. Therefore, the co-leaders may provide additional input along with the rest of the WT in the coming weeks. Note also that based on feedback from Work Track members, proposals previously included in section d. of the report are now integrated into the appropriate subsections of section f (deliberations) in order to ensure that all proposals are presented in a consistent manner and that there is sufficient context provided for each proposal.

If there are topics contained in the report that you would like to discuss further during our sessions at ICANN63, please send an email to the mailing list with the proposed topic by Wednesday 17 October.

If you would like to provide specific comments or raise concerns about sections of the text, please send your comments in the body of an email, clearly identifying the page number and passage on which you are commenting. Please do not send your own redline version of the text to the mailing list. Given the very large number of WT members, it will be very difficult to reconcile many different redline versions.

At this stage, the co-leaders request that members limit mailing list discussion to the following:


  *   Does the draft report provide a complete and accurate record of Work Track 5 deliberations? If not, what needs to change?
  *   Are the recommendations, options, and questions appropriate and clear? If not, what specific changes are needed?
  *   Are there key points that were raised in the discussion that are not included? Please provide details.
