Folks,

Are you kidding? WHY on earth would you even consider lifting a public safeguard? …allowing the Public Interest Registry (PIR) to set whatever price they want for a .org domain. That’s just wrong-headed.

We’re a small non-profit art guild in a small community, staffed by volunteers. We don’t have money to pay staff, nor even for the rent! We have a gracious landlord, a wonderful supporter of the arts that gives us space to show our artwork to the community. In return, that helps us provide much-needed commercial support for the community in general, based on arts tourism. We need an efficient web site to do that.

Having to pay more for our web site registration, in addition to the hosting of it, would add yet another unbearable cost. To date, we could depend on the cost of our web site. Why would you want to make that so much less certain?

As for the reasons you state to do so: “Pricing for Domain Name Registrations…: …This change will not only allow the .org renewal agreement to better conform with the base registry agreement, but also takes into consideration the maturation of the domain name market and the goal of treating the Registry Operator equitably…” HOG WASH!!! Makes me wonder who is paying you under the table to lift the public safeguard….

I STRONGLY encourage you to keep the current contract in place – PLEASE! Don’t let PIR profit off the backs of the little guy! Isn’t there enough of that obscene profiteering in our modern society already?

HOLD THE LINE! PLEASE!

Sincerely,

Curt Gillespie
