Bruce,
I support the principle here but wonder if it is more practical to have the
period at TWO years - to coincide with term of office. That way a newly
elected council member simply makes the statement upon election (the staff
can chase for this). If there is a change for that member, they make a new
statement.

So amended motion would be: (Blue CAPS show changes)

"That the GNSO approves the following statement of interest policy:

(1) UPON ELECTION a Council member OR A liaison to the GNSO Council, WILL
provide a standing statement for publication setting forth all business and
other affiliations which relate in any way to the business
and other affiliations of the ICANN legal entity. THAT STATEMENT WILL BE
REVISED TO REFLECT ANY MATERIAL CHANGE AT THE TIME OF SUCH CHANGE DURING THE
MEMBER'S TERM OF OFFICE.

(2) With respect to any particular matter then pending before the Council,
each Council member should disclose any relationship or other factor that
could reasonably be considered to cause the member to be
considered to have a material Financial Interest (as defined in the ICANN
Board's Conflict of Interest policy), or who serves as a Director or Officer
of any entity with which the ICANN legal entity has a transaction, contract,
or other arrangement."
