[council] ICANN Board Vote on IGO Acronyms

Hi all,

 

According to the agenda for the ICANN Board's Thursday meeting, the topic of
IGO acronyms is set for a vote. Please see below, as it has potential
implications for other GNSO recommendations.

"The Board has met to discuss its Caucus Group's findings on the IGO acronym
issue. Based on its review of all the information available to it, the Board
believes at this time that the best path forward is to only accept some, and
reject other, parts of GAC advice regarding a permanent notification system
for IGOs. Under the Bylaws, this mandates a Board-GAC Consultation Process.
The Thursday vote will be to initiate this Board-GAC Consultation Process,
which will likely also involve deferring action on the remaining GNSO PDP
recommendations."
