[gnso-rds-pdp-wg] TIME TO END THE UNCONSTRUCTIVE DIALOG

As far as I can tell, the list dialog that has been happening today has made little to no positive contribution to the deliberation we need to do but it has I'm sure motivated a lot of members to think about quitting the WG. So I ask that everyone stop replying to what seems like an unending string of messages.

If anyone has not read the standards of behavior recently, I ask you to do so before you post another message to our WG list. Thanks to Stephanie for providing the link: https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/respectful-communication-2012-02-25-en .

The following are not acceptable in the messages on our list:

******** Criticizing WG members or their businesses

******** Sarcasm

******** Acting disrespectful to one another

******** Tit-for-tat exchanges that go on without end.

Everyone is asked to keep your communications fact based to the best of your understanding and realize that we all have different sources of what we believe are facts. It is our job as a working group to determine what the facts are and when facts conflict to try to find ways to resolve the differences.

Much of what occurred today can be avoided if we all stay on task. Most of what has been discussed on the list for the last few days has dealt with topics we will deal with in the future; please wait until we get there.

Finally, please put your egos aside and try to listen to what is being said. That doesn't mean you have to agree but please make every effort to understand and ask questions to increase your understanding.

Eventually we will all have to compromise and cooperate with one another so it is critical that we realize that that will never happen if we alienate one another.

Chuck

PS - I didn't respond sooner because I have been tied up in meetings all day.
